Why 5 stars? Because it's a frozen sugar paradise. --- --- --- Chris W are co-President's of the "Frozen Sugar is the best kind of sugar Club," and in my position of authority, it's my responsibility to point out greatness to the community. Greatness happens at Tropiccool. Gourmet, crazy flavors of popsicles. Gelato. Sorbet. Pastries. Even espresso and local beer. It's all here, you guys. Tropiccool is another shining example of why St. Pete has transformed over the last few years. I'll be back. Often.

So, the first time I came here, it was an awesome time. Bring a date or your friends! There is plenty of lounge space; go explore the back rooms! I had the raspberry & cookies and cream gelato, (raspberry rocks, perfect flavor), and a Woodchuck cider afterwards. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is super chill. I will absolutely recommend this place to anyone who likes to have a good time.

Wow my tastebuds are totally blown. First time trying this place and I tried out a few flavors with some friends and we all ending up getting gelato. Good atmosphere, friendly service, and very diverse flavors, I'll be back here a lot!

Let me first say I'm an ice cream, gelato, sorbet fanatic that's been lucky enough to have traveled the world and gone to some of what would be considered the best places to eat any of those frozen delicacies. Any time I get off a plane or out of a car in a new area or even one I've visited again and again I always Google "best in ice cream or gelato in "X" is where?) If you live in the Tampa Bay Area or travel here one thing is for certain, Tropiccool is a must visit. The young owner, from a generation of French "foodies", has hit it out of the park with his amazing flavors. Imagine eating a fresh cut from the field watermelon on a hot summer day and with one scoop of Stefan's watermelon you'll be exactly where your mind has taken you, only better. The coconut is beyond explanation and is without a doubt the best I've tasted anywhere ever. He makes old flavors new again and has fun with some combos you might not expect like Apricot Ginger. Tired of scoops? Head over to the freezer of "pops" and grab a chocolate coconut and realize that the word Popsicle has now been rendered inadequate. These are better than any mold shaped frozen dessert you've eaten until now. The space is great too with a homey seating area more reminiscent of a modern coffee shop. Coffee lover? Check out their espresso machine. I don't even want to know how much it cost! Can't wait to go back and sure wish I could find his products in California!

So yummy! Such interesting and refreshing flavors. Honestly, all of the options in the display looked good. And there were so many flavors and colors to choose from. To beat the heat, I decided on the blood orange sorbet. My son got the cookies and cream gelato. Sorbet- delicious! Gelato- creamy and equally scrumptious. I also got to sample the key lime pie and lychee sorbets. All so good! Service was excellent and the guy working was very nice and patient with all of us. He explained how all of their products are made in house and are all natural and made fresh daily. Their sorbet is all vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO. Lots of seating available inside. A couple of tables outside. Thursdays are BOGO pints from their freezer selection. Good deal! They also have doggie ice cream and are dog friendly. Awesome place all around. Definitely recommend stopping here if you are downtown.

I must confess, I have committed a Yelp sin. Please fellow Yelpers, please forgive me. My Tropicool flavors were intensely amazing that I didn't even take a picture of them. Shame on me! So Tropicool has popsicles, pupsicles, gelato, & coffee. Mocha Coconut, our pup, was slurping on his banana & pumpkin pupsicle. I am blaming him for me not taking pics of my gelato. His cup was even bigger than ours. I ordered key lime & coconut. Ny hubby ordered guava passionfruit & strawberry & cheesecake. Talk about heaven. Try as many flavors as you want. They are all good! Everyone was super friendly and helpful working there. I loved how they were such shiny happy people. They also have a Tropicool bus at local festivals which is where i first tried them. Locale Market also carries their gelato pops, & Yep, I have had them there too. Turn Tropicool, & you will never turn back!

Cool spot for little kids and adult kids. Stop by for a treat on a hot day after walking around downtown. The kids described the gelato craft popsicles as awesome. I decided to try a craft beer float. I have to admit the idea of a beer gelato float seemed odd, but after trying one its a great dessert. Keyword is dessert because this drink is super sweet and probably not one that you want to catch a beer and sugar buzz at the same time. But overall a frat place for the whole family.

Lots of exciting gelato flavors here! A friendly cozy place where you can sit outside and enjoy the great Florida sun, or relax in the air conditioning. Well worth a visit if you are visiting the historic St. Pete area or near by!

I found this place by seeing one of my yelp friend's bookmarks. Surprisingly I drive by this place weekly and have never noticed it. The pictures of all the Popsicles that was uploaded is deceiving (the Popsicles were in a small fridge) but that didn't take away from the flavor. I had the coconut chocolate chip and it was quite good. Not too sweet, which was great. They had about 15 different gelatos/sorbets on display. The owner is a young spunky guy who happily helped me pick out a Popsicle. It is larger inside than it looks from the outside. There was plenty of space to hang out with friends. They also offered coffee. I can see this being a good dessert/mid day snack place to meet up with some friends. I look forward to another visit to try one of their fruity Popsicles.

Everything is delicious here, and the flavors are super creative! Pineapple mojito, apricot ginger and blood orange are my favorites. Really fresh and tasty ^.^ I definitely come for the Thursday deal. True they are pre-pinted, but I love that because the sorbet and gelatos are SUPER COLD in the reach-in. Yay!!

We stopped by here in March looking for a quick, cool pick me up to have while watching a tennis match. We were going to hit a Jamba Juice or Smoothie King, but this was the only place nearby that said they served smoothies when we called. The place was empty when we arrived and the young lady who worked there was less than enthusiastic. She made one smoothie which I started drinking while she made the second (the servings were small for the cost) and was almost half through by the time she finished the third. The second smoothie came a full inch or so short of the serving line on the cup, but we were in a hurry so we didn't mention the short serving and she sure wasn't bringing it up. Overall, service was meh, prices were high for what you got, but it did taste good. Don't think I'd get smoothies here again. Not worth the value.

I've been looking for cute little Popsicle shops and I found one! Super cozy and home-like too! I went with a few friends and we were very impressed. Choosing to get just one of something is impossible, so we all bought a gelato and a Popsicle

Not one to give rave reviews, but this place deserves it. Customer service was phenomenal, gelato was even better. We sampled a few favors before settling in on two. Everything we sampled was good and it was too hard too decide! The employee also explained to us the story of how they were founded, which added to the experience. So if you're on Central and have a sweet tooth, this is definitely a good place to go!

By far the best gelato this side of the Atlantic! The coffee bar is rivaled only by the craft beers and warm ambiance. One of the best gems in Florida!

This is one of my favorite spots in town. I love all their Popsicles. It's a unique place to hang out with friends

I've had a few pops and the toffee is my fav. The gelati is great too, lots of flavors to choose from. The inside of the shop is huge. It really has a cafe feel like you can curl up and read a book for hours without being uncovered. A little bit on the pricey side. I had a really nice girl serve me a couple times, but then I had a young guy who got me pretty confused about order multiple scoops and flavors, to the point I had to ask why it was so hard. Otherwise, cool little spot, specially on a hot day!

Awesome gelato flavors! Came in for the first time today and the staff member was very friendly. He allowed me, my fiancé, and friend to try several flavors. I decided on pistachio. They also have coffee drinks, smoothies, and gelato "pops." We also brought our dog and got him a "pup-sicle." For three people and the dog, the total came to around $11. Very affordable, quality treats, and friendly staff. We will be back soon!

Excellent freshmade gelato. They take their time and do it right. When in st Pete you need to get a simple gelato pop or something even more sophisticated.

Dude. Just...dude. I don't even know where to start. Tropiccool is probably one of the best gems downtown St. Petersburg has to offer if not Pinellas County. Homemade gelato and sorbet in a variety of KILLER flavors and in-house baked goods, delicious coffee and espresso drinks, a crazy cool atmosphere, and one of the nicest business owners you'll ever meet (Stefan)? Unreal. But seriously, the pops are amazing. The dark chocolate covered raspberry is the age-old combination of chocolate and berry done 10x better. I can eat 2 or three easily. The coconut sorbet is rich and flavorful, but smooth and creamy like gelato despite its complete lack of dairy content. Do you even pineapple-mojito (non-alc) sorbet pop, yelpers? Because Tropiccool has that pop. And it's as delicious as it sounds. The gelato is astounding. My personal favorite is the pistachio, but the oreo mint is a close second comer. I couldn't list all the flavors if I tried because Stefan is always making wild new combinations, but here's my best effort to give you an idea: Sorbet: Cherry, Raspberry, Dark Chocolate Raspberry, Pineapple Mojito, Coconut, White Peach, Blood Orange, Guava Passionfruit, Mango, Dark Chocolate Mango Gelato: Pistachio, Vanilla, Oreo Mint, Chocolate, Chocolate Brownie, Cafe Mojo Did I mention the martines? Little baby gelato and sorbet works of art in plastic cups garnished with chocolate they temper themselves. Its like edible art. Magical. Seriously. Go to Tropiccool. Find the cart or bus if you can't make their storefront. Eat Pops and Be Happy. Because I sure as he** plan to keep doing just that.

We came in for a quickie treat and was pleasantly surprised! The gelato was fresh tasting and totally yummy. Nothing would be good without the amazing service of Kafira. She was sweet, knowledgeable of the product, and above all, patient with the small crowd of people who constantly were asking for samples and changing their minds. ( including us). What a great experience. We will be back!

Excellent. All natural. My first visit was yesterday and it won't be the last! Yum! Convenient parking out front. Owner was nice and pleasant. Going back for the avocado coconut today.

Gelato was made in house, and clerk most enthusiastic. You can have tastes to decide what is best for you. Chocolate and Vanilla together is always a winner. Very comfy places to sit unstairs, couches and lots of room.

Great gelato! I had the salted caramel panna cotta, which was amazing and the peanut butter chocolate pretzel was decent. Overall, they had a nice selection of gelato and popsicles. I will definitely be back.

Man, when On the Avenue, my favorite thrift/trinket/vintage store shut down in this location I despaired that I would ever ever see the space turned in to something good for my hood. And then one day, walking buy I saw a build out going on, so I popped in to ask what was up and found out gourmet popsicles were coming. WTF? YES! YES! YES! nothing gets me happier than gourmet popsicles (well that's an exaggeration, but they're up on the list, from the Hyppo in St Auggie to the King of Pops in the ATL I LOVE them.) I've popped in a few times now and I am impressed. There are plenty of non-dairy options for the vegans among us, including a Coconut gelato pop that seriously tastes like a fresher, more flavorful frozen Mounds bar. Let that ruminate for a second. I need to keep going to make my way through all the frozen treats. They've done a good job with the build-out too. It's an old house and they have turned it into a nice lounge area for sitting and enjoying. They're serving coffee, which the 'hood needed since No Name pulled up stakes and moved to 4th street, as well as juices. If you're out shopping on a hot day in Grand Central - which you should be because it's the best place to be in all of Tampa Bay - cool of with a pop from here. You will NOT be disappointed.

Excellent gelato and sorbet in a quaint setting! I stopped in with some friends on a hot day when in the Grand Central district doing some shopping. The price is more than fair for the quality of product. I would recommend the coconut sorbet (great if your a coconut lover like me!) or the mango sorbet. Both were delicious and refreshing for a hot summer afternoon. They also have smoothies and a variety of coffee based beverages. Since the place is newly opened, they are still working on getting some things together. The owner told us that they will soon have a bar with wine and local beers, and do some wine and dessert pairings. Can't wait for that!

Love, love, love Tropiccool! Not only can you get gelato on a stick dipped in chocolate, now they serve waffle cones too! Check it out if you are in St. Pete!

Excellent gelato and sorbets. You NEED to try this! Conveniently located on the way back from the beach or after a trip to the Taco Bus.

I like this shop a lot BUT their gelato pops are basically a scoop of gelato smashed into an ice pop mold. The tiny little pops are a whopping 4.50 (I think some of them are almost 5.00) that seems a bit steep for 1 scoop of gelato on a stick. Other than the fact that it's too pricey I like the place, I've never had their coffee but they make a variety of smoothies and sell bottles beverages (that are all pretty healthy) and have a few other menu options.

Just went tonight before closing which wasn't a problem unlike other places they try and rush you out. Stefan was awesome let us try a bunch of flavors and I have to say his place blows everyone else away. Ton of gelato, sorbet, pops stuff for dogs and the price is perfect. Keep it up we will def be back support DTSP businesses!!!
